Happy Halloween!

Halloween came to Florida with a chill in the air this year.  In fact those of us who live here would consider it to be down right cold with temps in the low 50s at night.  It did help get us in the fall mood though which was nice after a very warm fall.

Emory and Ellie did all of the hard work turning their pumpkins in to jack-o-lanterns this year.  All on their own they cleaned out their pumpkins (and didn't even make a mess!) and picked out their stencil that they wanted to carve into their pumpkins.  Ellie outlined the stencil onto her pumpkin and I carved it for her.  Emory did it all and even carved his own pumpkin for the first time this year.  It's amazing how much easier this activity has gotten for Dan and I in the past few years!

We ended up with two very different pumpkins...a cute owl and a scary alien.  Bet you can guess who created each of them!

On Halloween day at Palencia Elementary, the entire school dressed up as pirates and had a picture taken all together at the pirate ship park beside the school.
Ellie's class had a Halloween party on October 30th.  It was very busy but lots of fun for the kids.  They made homemade apple turnovers, painted the cutest little rock monsters and had a big party for lunch.

Halloween night we had a Cupcake Cutie and Mario at our house.

It was a strangely quiet Halloween in Palencia this year.  There didn't seem to be as many trick or treaters or parents out on golf carts as usual.  Maybe it was the chill in the air or the fact that it was the middle of the week.  That didn't stop the kids and their friends from getting lots and lots of candy and having a fun evening!

National Junior Honor Society

Congratulations to Emory for being inducted into the National Junior Honor Society at Pacetti Bay Middle School on October 30th.
Emory always makes us proud of his academic achievements and he looks handsome in his tie too!

First Quarter Report Cards

We've already made it through the first quarter of Emory's 7th grade year and Ellie's 4th grade year in school.   Report cards came home this past Monday and it's good news with Honor Roll for both of them!

This year has been a little bit of a change for each of them.  For the first time, Emory is in all Honors classes rather than Advanced classes.  He maintained his honor roll average with four As and one B.  Ellie is attending the new Palencia Elementary School.  It is the first all digital school in our county, which means no paper text books...at all!  All of her books are digital and she can access them on an ipad at school or at home on the ipad or computer.  She did great making the adjustment and earned straight As this quarter.

E and e,
We are so very proud of both of you and all of the hard work that you put in to doing so well in school!
Love,
Mom and Dad
