As it was the middle of the week, Ellie and Emory joined us for this trip. Since we were all together we stopped by Driftwood Beach for a few family pictures one evening just as the sun was starting to set.
Jekyll Island is the home to the Georgia Sea Turtle Hospital and Rescue Center. It was amazing to see the work that they do helping these little guys recover when they have been injured, most frequently by boaters. It is a state of the art hospital and while we were there they had a new patient that had just been admitted and we were able to watch them work to make him better.
There were so many patients who were well on their way to recovery. They were all in little private pools and were so cute.
Our second day at JI, we visited Summer Waves which is a water park on the island. While it was very small, it was a fun way to spend our last day before heading back home. There were just a couple of slides, a wave pool and a lazy river but it was perfect for a hot summer afternoon. Short lines make everything better too!
